Hi all readers!

Just a quick advert for 2 fab concerts on Friday December 1st.
Yes 2! Aswell as the evening 'English' concert of music by Purcell, Britten, Holst and Elgar, at 12.45pm we have a recital from our new Bassist Laurene.
It would be great to have a big Sheffield welcome and I promise you've never heard Bass playing like it! Laurene has recently left her Sausages in Toulouse to come and live in Sheffield...come and hear why we are so excited about it...you've really got nothing Toulouse!

Adrian

Thanks for such great concerts on Friday! For the audience, your efforts to learn so much repertoire so fast are truly impressive. Of course, some of your repertoire is work in progress. Friday's Elgar was evidently more advanced than (say) the Janacek, but we wouldn't have it any other way, as we the audience can widen our experience as you widen your repertoire, rather than being limited to your post-recording party pieces as it were.

That said, it was good that the Elias were able to change their programme the other day rather than putting themselves under too much pressure to learn stuff. The Trout was magnificent, Tim's ensemble playing exceptional as ever.

We always knew that 360's output would grow rapidly in range from the outset, and you were so good from the off that the Sheffield audience is right behind you as you take the project forward.

I was so sorry to miss the Laurene spectacular on Friday morning, but heard such positive reactions from the lucky ones who could make it. Compensation was at hand this lunchtime hearing her (and Matt and Ben) in the Soldier's Tale. Not to mention the rest of the crew in the Foyer beforehand. This was a great choice for a children's concert - intellectually and morally demanding; musically astringent but thrilling; complex plot - some of the adults in the audience seemed to be keeping up with it too. And Highly Strung mince pies was an excellent combination. David
